ABOUT

THE ORIGIN OF SILVER SCREAM

At the start of 2012, I launched THE COLLINSPORT HISTORICAL SOCIETY, a blog devoted to DARK SHADOWS. It was a lot more fun that I imagined it would be, so I thought I'd launch a sister site devoted to classic horror and science fiction movies of yesteryear. It was an idea that first reared hairy, three-eyed head after I was asked to contribute a piece to the now-defunct movie website, THE CINEMENTALS.

I was asked to write a little something about DOCTOR X, a 1932 film by MICHAEL CURTIZ that I'd never seen. The entire experience, from trying to track down a copy of the movie at the last minute, to working with WILL McKINLEY to massage the text of my critique into something readable, was a delight.

And then THE CINEMENTALS closed its doors, leaving me to wander the foggy avenues of Collinsport once more. But I hadn't forgotten the experience of discovering a movie for the first time (even when that movie was 80 years old) and thought it was an experience I should continue to pursue.

Combining a bolt of lightning, an experimental potion and some black magic, I decided to bring SILVER SCREAM to life. Don't be surprised if it runs a muck once in a while.
